Serenade Chinese Restaurant - Dining with a view

For a proper meal of Cantonese cuisine or dim sum that's beyond mass appeal outfits like Tim Ho Wan or Tao Heung, I enjoy going to the Serenade Chinese Restaurant by the Maxim's Group. This middle-range restaurant offers great food at reasonable prices, and even an inspiring view of Victoria Harbour, if you're fast enough with your reservation to snag a table by the window.

Apart from the standard offerings of har gao, siew mai, char siew bao...

...Serenade shows that dim sum can get creative.

At the very least, I'm sure they put a smile on customers' faces.

Other than dim sum, dinner at Serenade is also definitely worth a shot. If you intend to go on a weekend, do check in advance if the restaurant is fully booked for functions like wedding dinners. Reservations are recommended.

Since Serenade is located at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre at the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront promenade, you can dine there before or after watching A Symphony of Lights. One way to do it is to reach the Avenue of Stars at 5-ish in the evening while there's still daylight. Take a stroll and all the pictures you want, then go for dinner at Serenade. Leave the restaurant at about 7.30pm and stake your position along the barricades to get a good view of A Symphony of Lights at 8.00pm.
